A latest news in BBC discover technology in print media. A video located in print ads is a truly breakthrough in print media industry. With this tight competition it is important to came up with new idea that get attention of customer.
This technology will appear in selected edition of Entertainment Weekly by Sept 18th 2009. It design like the slim-line screen more the size of mobile phone screen. It can preview up to 40 minutes video. Although it is more expensive than regular print ads I don't think a big advertiser like Pepsi has a problem for paying this fee. If it will attract customer attention, because of that I don't see why they won't spend the money.
Meanwhile back in Indonesia, in this kind of technology we must admit that it still far behind our print media industry right now. It not because of we are not capable for handling that kind of technology, but because it high prices that advertiser are probably not willing to pay. It might takes a huge money to makes this happen in Indonesia, and I don't think advertiser are ready for this kind breakthrough. Today the media print industry are in stages of introducing e-paper to their reader and advertiser.
With the habits, technology, power to advertiser; it might several time before this new technology can be adopt here in Indonesia.
Will it be the dead of print media? It sure does...and print media must now search a way to develop and evolve, otherwise they will be dead in not more than 10 years in the future.
